"The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing." - Walt Disney
Wild Bird Centers of America’s reputation and growth are determined by the franchisees who represent us every day in their communities. The investment you make in a Wild Bird Center franchise is extremely important to both you and our Wild Bird Center family. As such, we carefully select candidates we determine have the abilities, drive, resources, and commitment to work within our system, as well as a viable market area, and have the greatest potential to make their franchise a financial and personal success. Our recruiting process gives both of us time to evaluate, analyze and consolidate information to ensure a good fit.
The discovery process typically takes 45-60 days. Below are the steps to get started.

Talk to George
This is the first step in getting to know each other. We will discuss your goals and expectations of being a Wild Bird Center franchise store owner, your territory and your qualifications. We will answer your questions about owning a Wild Bird Center franchise and verify your qualifications.
Review the Franchise Disclosure Document (FDD)
Once you have been qualified, you will receive our FDD either by mail or email. This is a legal representation that includes financial information and detailed information about Wild Bird Centers operations and processes. The FDD is required by law. We will schedule a follow-up call to review any questions you may have regarding the FDD.
Schedule Discovery Day
Every potential franchisee joins us at our home office in Glen Echo, MD (just outside Washington, DC) for Discovery Day. This is your opportunity to meet the people who will help you open your store and support you once you are in business.
It's an opportunity to review the Wild Bird Center program and for both of us to ask questions and get to know each other.
Develop Your Business Plan
Your business plan starts with finding a location. We work with you and real estate brokers to find the best location for your business in your territory.
From there, it is essential to develop a financial business plan. We develop a template to execute a pro forma business plan and are here to assist you in the process. This will help assess if your business will be viable.
Your financial situation will be evaluated to assist in third-party financing if needed.
Join the Wild Bird Center Family
The last step in getting started is signing your Franchise Agreement. From there, we develop your store design, schedule training, coordinate POS system installation, build fixtures, order products and all the other aspects of the program you need to get going!
