This spring Phoebe and a friend visited Cape May. A generous customer lent us her house for a long weekend. While we didn't see huge numbers of birds, we did see purple martins and an amazing number of Carolina wrens. Down near Cape May Point there is an alpaca farm. Phoebe is a "fiber head"--a knitter and yarn lover--so she had to make a trip to see the alpacas. She was completely smitten with them. Below is a photo of a couple of the "dudes". (The sexes are kept in separate areas.) Love those haircuts.
Recently Phoebe attended the Wild Bird Center annual convention in Annapolis, MD. She and another owner went to Blackwater National Wildlife Reserve where there were so many eagles you began to take them for granted. There were also lots of osprey including some still on the nest. The bird on the left is the adult, the other two are youngsters who spend much of the day exercising their wings and jumping up and down on the platform.
We also saw an amazing spider whose body was nearly 2 inches long. Brrr!
