What's Happening?
MAYBE WIN A GIFT CERTIFICATE
ABSOLUTELY NO SKILL REQUIRED
"Say cheese" because starting July 1st is a drawing that takes no skill whatsoever; NONE. Anyone who enters could walk away with a $50 gift certificate from our store: $75 if you're there at drawing-time. There is no purchase required to enter, and only two very simple rules:
- Photos are to show (at least) one living thing.
- Photos are to show at least one product we sell (or have sold). This includes, besides bird stuff, bug spray, hats, yard art, books, art glass, socks, chimes, binoculars etc.
EASY HUH!?
Each photo you submit (and each person can submit two) should come with your name and contact information. They can be 4x6 or 3.5x5 prints, or sent digitally to us at wbcDenton@charter.net .
We'll display all entries (unless you ask us not to) so it's a cheap way to give a grandchild 15 minutes of fame, for instance. Don't put it off, however, because the drawing (and the last day) is noon, Saturday, September 6th.
LEGAL STUFF: All qualifying entries have an equal chance - no consideration will be given for photo quality (or lack thereof). Need not be present to win the $50 gift Certificate. No purchase necessary to enter.
The store owners, Nancy Collins and Owen Yost will be glad to talk to your group about attracting Texas birds, birdfeeding, landscaping for birds or any similar topic. In the past we have talked with garden clubs, professional groups, church groups, neighborhood associations and other groups, which defy classification. The common denominator was that they all wanted to know more about the bird life here in north Texas, and how to make it happen in your yard.
Call Owen (a Texas Landscape Architect) or Nancy (a Master Naturalist and wildlife rehabilitator) at 940-484-2473 to find out more or to discuss dates.
For those of you who dislike wandering through swamps and forests in search of birds, we've put together what we call "Birding by Chair". It has the native birds coming near where you sit [in a chair we provide] instead of the other way around.
The date and time are according to whenever it`s convenient for you. Call the store (484-2473) to find out more.
Your Denton Wild Bird Center is very proud to announce its support of Project Wildbird, a new scientific study of the Wild Bird Feeding Industry Research Foundation, which will:
1. Determine specific seed preferences of backyard feeder birds in all regions, and in all seasons,
2. Determine specific feeder preferences of backyard feeder birds in all regions, and in all seasons,
3. Provide information about the best scientific means of attracting birds to our customers' yards.
Our parent company, Wild Bird Centers of America, is a major financial contributor to PROJECT WILDBIRD and our Director of Research, Dr. David Horn, is the study's Lead Investigator and scientist.
