The Wild Bird Center of Denton is all about the wild birds you can see in the skies of north central Texas. We know that the birds here have adapted over the centuries to the Texas heat, the Texas plants, the Texas predators, the Texas dryness, and the naturally-available Texas food.
They may be the same species as birds in Pennsylvania, Georgia, Indiana or Colorado (for instance) but we know they are special in very important ways.
That is why we have the seed blends that local birds want, and tastes they have become accustomed to over the centuries. We make sure birdhouse entrance holes are sized correctly. We have birding supplies for when a particular species arrives here, not somewhere hundreds of miles away. We know the unique habits of birds that grew up here.
