New Wild Bird Center ® Lands in Little Rock
Local Resident Carries Quality Products and Tips for Local Birders

(April 2003, Little Rock, AR) - Little Rock birders have a new place to migrate for all their wild birding supplies. Local residents Cindy and Marcus Paxton have recently opened a Wild Bird Center ®, a wild bird supply retail store, in Little Rock. The grand opening reflects the growing trend of bird watching in the area.

According to the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, more than 66 million Americans fed, photographed and observed wildlife in 2001. And they didn't necessarily travel to do it. About 54 million Americans brought food to birds and other wildlife around their home.

Cindy Paxton, co-owner and operator of the Little Rock Wild Bird Center, said, "Birding is one of America's fastest-growing outdoor activities. We are fortunate to have many beautiful birds here in Little Rock, and our goal is to help people attract and enjoy them."

Area bird watchers can spot quality birding and outdoor living products in the store. The Wild Bird Center holds an exclusive line of MoBi Mesh® feeders, specially formulated birdseed blends, and Hawthorn Collection birdbaths. For those wanting a more decorative approach, the Paxtons offer outdoor fountains and garden art. Nature enthusiasts can receive help choosing a binocular and even find creative gift ideas such as garden accessories, CDs, stationery, nature books, and decorative novelty items.

"Our Wild Bird Center products are top performers in scientific tests," noted Cindy. "We combine our high-end product line with a solid knowledge in birding. Bird feeding recommendations are based on documented research describing what, where and how birds like to eat. And customers can pick up our free bimonthly newsletter Wild Bird News. This great resource offers feeding tips, bird-friendly landscaping ideas, regional bird news, and new products."

For both novices and aficionados, the Paxtons will sponsor store events such as birdwalks, workshops and educational programs.

Said George Petrides, founder and president of Wild Bird Centers of America, Inc., "The dedicated owners of the Wild Bird Center of Little Rock will become trusted resources and friends for the Little Rock community. You'll find we provide a unique experience in each of our stores. And that experience is based on our commitment to provide the best in products, customer service, and birding information."

For more information about the Little Rock Wild Bird Center, contact Cindy and Marcus Paxton at (501) 312-2473. The store is located at 12111 West Markham St. #440 in Little Rock.

Founded by George Petrides, the Wild Bird Center retail concept started in 1985 with a single store in Cabin John, Md., a suburb of Washington, D.C. Now a retail franchise, headquartered in Glen Echo, Md., Wild Bird Centers of America, Inc. has grown to nearly 100 national Wild Bird Center and Wild Bird Crossing stores throughout the United States and Canada. Each Wild Bird Center and Crossing serves as a valuable community resource and provides demonstrations, children's programs, and a variety of educational events.
