Meet Our Owners

John & Freddy Howell started the Wild Bird Center of Los Gatos, CA in October 1995. Freddy operated the store for the first few years while John continued with his employment. Once the store was running full-steam, John came in full-time. Now, 12 years later, their store is the consistent top performer in the franchise. Asked about Wild Bird Centers of America, Inc., they say:

“The idea of a Wild Bird Center matched our interest in birds and gave us the opportunity to give back to the community. Because we had no experience running a business, the franchise provided wisdom, guidance and experience that gave us confidence.”

Partners in Flight

Partners In Flight is a cooperative effort involving partnerships among federal, state and local government agencies, philanthropic foundations, professional organizations, conservation groups, industry, the academic community, and private individuals. Partners In Flight focuses resources on the improvement of monitoring and inventory, research, management, and education programs involving birds and their habitats. The central premise of Partners In Flight (PIF) has been that the resources of public and private organizations in North and Latin America and the Caribbean must be combined, coordinated, and increased in order to achieve the greatest success in conserving bird populations in this hemisphere. The power of PIF lies in the synergy that builds when iverse, committed groups who care about birds work together for a common goal.
