Meet Our Owners
Kitty had worked as an employee of the Prairie Village, Kansas store since 2001. She realized in her time there that a Wild Bird Center was the career she wanted to pursue and became a goal for her. In August 2006, the previous franchisees decided to retire and Kitty found the opportunity she was waiting for and purchased the store. Since her purchase she has driven sales upward and presents a perfect example of a Wild Bird Center franchise store. Kitty says:
“I realized I had finally found the meaningful and fulfilling career I'd always wanted. Our customers are kind, the work allows creativity and the franchisor makes me proud to be associated with the Wild Bird Centers of America. “
Other Programs
Community Group Programs
Store owners are often invited to give presentations to community organizations. These programs are ideal for gardening groups, luncheon meeting groups, civic organizations, and senior citizens' clubs. Here are two examples of the types of community programs offered:
Introduction to Backyard Birding
This slide program introduces common neighborhood birds and describes ways to meet their four basic needs. It may also include a discussion of bird feeding methods.
Retirement Home Programs
If you have a parent or a friend in a retirement community or nursing home, you may want to sponsor a bird viewing station. We'll help you select the right feeder and location within viewing range of the home, or perhaps recommend a suitable window feeder. After installing the feeder, we can provide a presentation to help residents enjoy the birds they will attract.
