Sometimes when you are on a bird walk what strikes you are the birds you haven’t seen. We were almost done with our walk today and I realized that I had not seen a starling. It became a kind of joke for a while, but in the end we did see a small flock of starlings.

Happy Anniversary! The Wild Bird Center is 23 years old today. We have been offering the Saturday Morning Walk for 22 ½ years every Saturday! Thank you all for the support. Our bird walk list for this morning will show few species, typical of mid-winter birding on the Front Range. However, with a little searching it is also the time of year when you can find rarities. Our most uncommon bird we saw this morning was a dark morph snow goose sometimes referred to as a ‘blue goose’.
