Meet Our Owners

Sally Litvin opened her first Wild Bird Center in Reading, PA in March 1998. She has since opened a second in Wayne, PA and has become a top sales earner in the franchise. Now running the operation with the help of her son, Jason Blaker, Sally is a consistent performer and has been an inspiration to new franchisees. She has this to say about the business:

“I opened my first Wild Bird Center about 10 years ago and enjoyed it so much I opened up a second one about 5 years later and I just enjoy waking up in the morning and going to work. It’s exciting!”

Educational Programs

One of company's most important goals is to foster an appreciation of nature among people of all ages, and particularly to inspire the next generation of birders with a desire for environmental stewardship by helping adults and children enjoy their neighborhood birds.

In support of this goal, your local store owner may offer a variety of educational programs for both children and adults. These programs are presented by store owners or special guests knowledgeable in subjects such as bluebirds, hummingbirds, raptors, migration, bats, organic gardening, bird-friendly landscaping and bird identification. Some programs take place in your local store, others - in schools, community centers and parks. Supplementary materials, such as study guides, identification charts, birdhouse or birdfeeder kits are available with many of these programs for a nominal fee or gratuity.

Find out about some of our most popular educational programs by checking each link on the list below. Please note, however, that there are many more programs than can be listed here. Program leaders routinely adapt presentations to the ages and specific interests of each group. If you are interested in hosting a program, please call your local Wild Bird Center or Wild Bird Crossing store owner for more information. (See our store list for the location nearest you.)
