From the days when our first Wild Bird Center opened its doors in 1985, customers have gathered together for fun informal birdwalks to local and regional birding hot spots. These birdwalks continue today at most Wild Bird Center and Wild Bird Crossing stores, introducing thousands of beginning birders to the quiet joys of our birdwatching hobby each year.
Our birdwalks are generally free (unless the destination location has an admission fee) and have no requirements other than a desire to see and learn more about wild birds. Birdwalks are typically led by your local store owner or experienced birder participants. If you don't own your own binoculars, field guides, or a spotting scope yet, they are often provided by your store owner for the walk.
Many Wild Bird Center and Wild Bird Crossing customers have become close friends on birdwalks, and you'll find as many regulars as new birders. Going with experienced birders is a great way to learn about the sport and an opportunity to learn much that will benefit you in your own birding adventures.
Though birdwalks almost always take place on weekends, schedules may vary, so please contact the store nearest you for details about specific times and destinations. /Photo by WayneWiddison, Sent by Wild Bird Center of Layton, UT/

Each one of our nearly 100 Wild Bird Center owners organizes their local bird walks and field trips with bird and habitat experts, as well as other guest-speakers. Many events are planned in collaboration with Nature Centers, Wildlife Refugees and local environmental groups.
